State Senate - District 5

State Senate - District 5

2006 Contest
Republican Candidates – David Lawrence Malhalab (Detroit)
Democrat Candidates – Derrick Hale (Detroit), Janet Badalow (Dearborn Heights), Tupac Hunter (Detroit), Triette Reeves (Detroit)

Current Rep – Burton Leland (D-Detroit) – Term Limited

2002 Results
Burton Leland – 82.81%
Bonnie Patrick – 17.19%

Presidential results:
Approximately 85% for John Kerry

Republican Michigander’s prognosis – Safe Democrat.

District covers:
Wayne County:
Dearborn Heights, Inkster, Part of Detroit

This is another Detroit based democrat district. Dearborn Heights is competitive at times but leans democrat. It was used as a bridge to another democrat stronghold of Inkster to pick up the mostly black voters there. Leland is termed out here.

This will be a strong primary race. No candidate are from Inkster, so that could be a major battleground.

Hello
I am David Lawrence Malhalab, Detroit Police Sergeant, Retired, and thee candidate for State Senate 5th District..
I was police officer in the W.Detroit area covered by this district - raised in Dearborn Heights and trying to get Wayne County Sheriffs to raid businesses that sell narcotic paraphrenalia in Dearborn Heights and Inkster.
I am the candidate to beat..in this district, one Democrate tied to Kilpatrick, one to Hendrix..but I can beat either one..
Victory in Novermber...
David L. Malhalab

THE REPUBLICAN PARTY..HAS FAILED ME...THEY ARE TOO PREOCCUPIED WITH DEVOS AND BOUCHARD..
I CAN WIN THE STATE SENATE 5TH DISTRICT RACE..BUT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, HAS IGNORED ME..THE RACE..AND IS LETTING THE LESS THAN QUALIFIED DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE - WIN WITH LITTLE EFFORT..
HOW SAD..DEVOS MAY WIN..BUT HAVE A DEMOCRATIC LEGISLATURE - BECAUSE THEY HAVE LOST SIGHT OF THE LEGISLATIVE RACES..
